Yes, you know that language learning is helpful for our well-being: it prevents dementia, our intelligence is growing, etc.

So how do we work out these classes? You read the text on the picture or the text I give you below, and you pronounce it in order to understand the first meaning – what was meant to say.

After this, you read the vocabulary list of the new words; you study them. And of course, you chuckle!

In case you self-study you may choose the words you’ll use in future and learn them. If you study with your teacher, ask him/her wich ones will be in use for your sphere of speaking.

Canny – Gentle; cautious and obliging; harmless; safe;

Ball – the people assembled at a lavish formal dance; / round object that is hit or thrown or kicked in games;

Sum – To add into one amount; / a quantity of money or currency; any amount, indefinitely;

Wear – a covering designed to be worn on a person’s body;

Gladiator – A prize- fighter with swords; in anc. Rome, a man who engaged in mortal combat with another for the entertainment of the people;

Moor – A tract of waste land, or a tract kept for hunting; / to secure with cables or ropes;

Sir – word of respect used in addressing a man; title of a knight or baronet;

Tin – a silvery malleable metallic element that resists corrosion; used in many alloys and to coat other metals to prevent corrosion;

Fortitude – That power of mind which enables a person to act or suffer with patience, and without flinching or complaining; endurance; resolution;

Flesh – The meat of animals used for food. / Muscular tissue. / Adiposity, stoutness;

Mussels – Marine bivalve mollusks especially of the genus Mytilus or freshwater bivalve mollusks, especially the genera Unio and Anodonta;

Euthenasia – doesn’t exist as a word. As always, listen to the phrase. “Euthanasia” meaning “mercy killing” is pronounced like “youth.”

Nasty – characterized by obcenity; indecent; indelicate; gross; filthy.
