The grammar of word order is simple, but there are many small nuances. The homework will be easy: I want you to practice the simple and correct answers. Good luck! Go over the shortened rules below to reassure yourself that you’re doing it right:
Subject then Verb then Object
Place before time;
Adverb before the verb;
Adverb goes after the verb “to be”
Adverb goes between two verbs in one phrase
Questions: auxiliary verb, then subject then main verb
“To be” goes before before subject (then comes the main verb if we have a continuous tense)
Same for past simple, continuous, future simple, present simple/continuous/perfect, etc.
Negatives: auxiliary verb with “not” (or other negative) before the subject
